Iceman whose real name is Robert "Bobby" Drake is a cartoon character created by Stan Lee (text) and Jack Kirby (drawings) in 1963, published by Marvel Comics. His first appearance is in X-Men (first series) No 1 (September 1963).

During his long career he joined temporarily to other supergroups: X-Factor, Defenders, Champions of Los Angeles, the X-Terminators, the Secret Defenders. His powers manifested during a first date with a girl, Judy Harmony, a bully and attempt to blow. Drake tried to stop him while he was going to beat him and so he turned his hand in ice. Later the sheriff saved him from an angry mob, and decided to take him to jail for his safety.
After a while, 'Scott Summers contacted him to offer to go with him to safety but Bobby refused, this started a small battle that ended Charles Xavier. So Drake was chosen by Professor X to form the first team of X-Men, and to be trained in the use of its powers.
When the X-Men were defeated by Krakoa, were saved by a new team of X-Men, including Wolverine and Storm. Given the presence of this new team, Bobby was among those who left the Xavier School. Then he fell in love and became engaged with Lorna Dane, aka Polaris, but in the end she chose Havok, the younger brother of Cyclops. Meanwhile, along with Angelo joined the Champions of Los Angeles. When the group disbanded he returned to study.
