Hanuman (Sanskrit: Hanuman) or Hanumat (Sanskrit: Hanumat), also referred to as Anoman, is one of the deities of the Hindu religious beliefs, as well as the protagonist in the most famous epic Ramayana. He is a white monkey and a son Batara Bayu and Anjani, the brother of Subali and Sugriwa. Hanuman was born during the Tretayuga as the son of Anjani, a female Vanara. Formerly Anja actually is an angel, named Punjikastala. However, due to a curse, he was born into the world as Vanara women. The curse can be ended when she gave birth to a son who is an incarnation of Shiva. Anja is married to Kesari, a mighty Vanara. Along with Kesari, Anjana did penance to Shiva to Shiva's presence as a son willing to incarnate them. One version relates that when Anjani imprisoned worship Shiva, elsewhere, King Dasarata do Putrakama Yadnya to obtain offspring. The result, he received some food to share with three wives, who later gave birth to Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Satrugna. By the will of the gods, a bird grab a piece of food, and dropped it on top of the forest where Anjana was meditating. Bayu, the god of wind, delivered the food to fall in the hands of Anjana. Anja eating it, and Hanuman was born.

When Hanuman was a kid, he thought the sun is a fruit that can be eaten, then fly toward him and was about to eat it. Lord Indra saw this and became concerned with the safety of the sun. To anticipate it, he threw petirnya towards Hanuman, so that little monkey fell and crashed into a mountain. Seeing this, Dewa Bayu became angry and silent. As a result of his actions, all creatures on earth to be weak. The gods were appealed to the Bayu to get rid of anger. Dewa Bayu stop the anger and Hanuman were given abundant gifts. Lord Brahma and Lord Indra gave grace that Hanuman would be immune from all weapons, and death will come only with his own. Thus, Hanuman became immortal beings or Chiranjiwin.
