STROMwww.animationheros.com  An amalgamation of several characters Cockrum designed to be used for the Legion of Super-Heroes. In an interview, 1999, Cockrum said that the original black woman from the Legion will be called The Black Cat. According to him, he Storm costume but without the cape, and cat-like haircut with tufts for ears. However, other characters like Tigra female cat appears, so that new characters Cockrum redesigned, giving the white hair and robes, and Storm was created. When the colleague said that Storm's white hair made him look like a grandmother, and thus, may not be popular, he simply said: "Believe."

Chris Claremont, who followed up Wein as the main author of the X-Men titles exceptional in 1975, embraced the Storm and began writing many important stories X-Men, among them God Loves, Man Kills and the Dark Phoenix Saga, each of which served as the basis to the movie X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand. In the second arc, the Storm was written as a main supporting character. This is a sign of things to come, as the main author of Claremont lived comic book for 16 years into the future and consequently wrote most of the publications contain the Storm.


Beyond the usual X-Men (December 1976), Claremont was established backstory Storm. Ororo's mother, N'Dare, is the daughter of a tribe in Kenya and the descendant of a long line of African witch-priest with white hair, blue eyes, and a natural talent for magic. N'Dare fall in love and marry the American photojournalist David Munroe. They moved to Harlem in downtown New York City, where she became pregnant with Ororo and bears, and then to Egypt during the Suez Crisis, where they were killed in an attack aircraft that failed and left Ororo six years as an orphan. There, his claustrophobia violence was also established as a result of buried under tons of rubble after the attack. He later became a skilled thief in Cairo under the benign Achmed el-Gibar and wanders into the Serengeti as a young woman. There, he was worshiped as a goddess before it was recruited by Professor X for X-Men.

Next Claremont fleshed out in the incredible backstory Storm X-Men  (January 1979). He retroactively added that Professor X, who recruited in Giant Size X-Men of 1975, had met her as a child in Cairo. As Ororo grew up in the streets and became an adept thief under the guidance of master thief Achmed el-Gibar, one of the most famous victim was Charles Francis Xavier, and Professor X. He was able to use mental powers to temporarily prevent her escape and recognize the potential in him. However, when Xavier was attacked mentally by Amahl Farouk, the King of Shadow, two people quite busy with their war to allow her to escape. Both Xavier and King acknowledge Storm Shadow as a young girl later.
